Balbalan LGU encourages employees to play sports to fight off stress

Balbalan, Kalinga – Providing an avenue for government employees to de-stress after a long day at work, the Municipal Local Government Unit of Balbalan kicked off the ‘Mayor’s Cup Inter-Agency Sportsfest’ on Monday, October 14, at the KDCM Sports Center.

The event convenes municipal employees together with personnel of the national line agencies after 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday to play basketball, while others cheer.

Mayor Almar Malannag, in an interview, explained that they initiated a sports fest for public employees in Balbalan to allow them to relax after an 8-hour work. He added that de-stressing leads to more productive work the following day.

“Adda ka idiay opisina gamin ket adda time ma-stress ka, nu ag-basketball ka wennu agay-ayam ka … kasla ngay maikkat diay stress mo. Tapos kabigatan na gamin ket kasla bar-baru manen, kasla ngay nga fresh ka manen nga ag-attend idiay trabahum,” he said.

Malannag further said that the activity is also an avenue for the government workers to exercise and to get in shape.

The 2024 Mayor’s Cup Inter-Agency Sportsfest with the theme ‘transforming public service in the next decade’ will conclude last week of October.
