Balbalan LGU joins nationwide campaign on nutrition and disaster preparedness

Balbalan, Kalinga – Joining the entire country in promoting healthy diet and disaster preparedness, the Local Government Unit of Balbalan held a motorcade on July 1 from Balantoy Junction to Balbalan Proper.

The event is a kick off activity for the 50th National Nutrition Month and the 36th National Disaster Resilience Month in Balbalan.

Said campaigns aimed at increasing demand and access to healthy diet, sustainable, and safe diet, and proactive measures to withstand and recover from climate-related disasters.

Mayor Almar Malannag relayed they started the observance of the two events in July with the main purpose to show that the municipality values health and nutrition and disaster readiness. He added that the LGU is ready in terms of responding to and mitigating impacts of calamities and that they are always there to assist their constituents should a disaster happen.

“Kayat mi nga ipakita iti constituents mi nga iti Balbalan LGU, uray man haan nga 100 percent nga kumpleto iti equipment tayo kunami, adda kami lang ditoy likod yu nu adda iti mapasamak,” the mayor said.   

For the entire month of July, various activities have been lined-up by the LGU particularly the Municipal Health Office and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office with partner agencies to mark the two celebrations.
