Balbalan LGU pledges cash incentives to athletes, contenders who win in prov’l to international competitions

Balbalan, Kalinga – As the young people of Balbalan grow and cultivate their gifts and talents at the journalism training provided by their LGU in the second week of October, they were promised full support from the Municipal Local Government Unit.

 

Balbalan LGU, according to Mayor Almar Malannag, decided to provide such a training to accommodate those who may be inclined in academic pursuits like journalism or writing.

 

Mayor Malannag, during the event, encouraged the young ones to go after their passion and to participate in events that would hone their skills and talents, adding that the LGU will be there for them.

 

In his talk, the Mayor disclosed the LGU pledges incentives to students who win in provincial, regional, national, and international competitions in any field – sports and skills or academic contests. The incentives may not be much, but it shall be a start as part of recognizing the contributions of the young people to the community.

 

Athletes who win gold in international sports games will get P20,000, P17,000 for silver, and P15,000 for bronze; for national gold medal, they will be receiving P10,000 for gold; P7,000 for silver; and P5,000 for bronze; for regional games, they will get P1,500 for gold, P1,300 for silver; and P1,000 for bronze. Players who win gold in the provincial athletic meet will get P800 for gold medal, P600 for silver, and P400 for bronze.

 

For academic and skills competitions: P35,000 awaits students who win first place in Asian or international contests, P30,000 for second placers, P25,0000 for third placers, and P20,000 consolation prize. For national contests, P10,000 will be provided for first placers, P7,500 for second, P5,000 for third, and P2,500 for the consolation.

 

As for regional events: P5,000 will be awarded to first placers, P4,000 for second, and P3,000 for third. Moreover, students who take home the first place in division contests will get P2,000, P1,800 for second, and P1,600 for the third place.

 

To receive the incentives, the school just needs to submit necessary attachments at the Balbalan Municipal Hall.

 

Mayor Malannag expressed that the cash incentives being provided to students are among the ways the LGU shows them their support. 

 

“Tapnu makita da nga adda kadwa da, adda iti kasla nga pinaka-ama da. Outside kadagiti parentes da, adda iti pinaka-ama da nga gobyerno nga LGU Balbalan,” he conveyed.
