Balbalan LGU to receive its SECOND National Seal of Good Local Governance Award

Balbalan, Kalinga – After eight years, the Balbalan Local Government Unit has once again got a hold of the mother of all the awards for LGUs, the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

The prestigious SGLG is bestowed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to provinces, cities, and municipalities that embody excellence in governance, integrity, and efficiency in delivering public services.

For 2024, the DILG is set to confer the SGLG award to 714 LGUs – 41 are provinces, 96 are cities, and 577 are municipalities. This is also the highest number of SGLG recipients in history.

Eight years since they received their first SGLG award, Balbalan finally made it again on the list for the 2024 SGLG.

Mayor Almar Malannag and his people are delighted to receive the news, relaying that the award goes to the people of Balbalan and to all the government staff who worked together to finally achieve the highest award for LGUs in the Philippines since their first SGLG in 2016.

“Inpapati dagitoy empleyado nga ma-meet diay requirements na daytoy nga highest award iti LGU. Adu iti problema nga na-encounter mi ngem talaga nga inaramid mi amin,” he said.

The local chief executive further shared that everything is possible if everyone works together saying, “kayang kaya gayam nu agmay-maysa iti maysa nga LGU, possible nga magun-od amin nu agmaymaysa.”

The Municipality of Balbalan was assessed by the DILG Central Office for the award last September 5, 2024.
