Balbalan LGU vies for National Seal of Good Local Governance

Balbalan, Kalinga – The Balbalan Local Government vies for the Seal of Good Local Governance(SGLG), the highest award being conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to top performing LGUs in the country.

Balbalan, as mentioned by the Municipal Information Office, was recommended by the DILG – CAR to be a candidate for the SGLG award at the national level.

For this reason, a team of validators from the DILG Central Office came to Balbalan on September 5 to affirm the recommendation and asses the LGU.

The said team who was accompanied by the DILG Kalinga led by Provincial Director Anthony Ballug was warmly welcomed by the Balbalan LGU headed by Mayor AlmarMalannag, giving them the ‘taob’ or the customary gesture of appreciation to guests.

After the short program, the validators assessed the Municipal LGU’sBusiness Friendliness and Competitiveness; Youth Development; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts; Environmental Management; Sustainable Education; Safety, Peace and Order; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Disaster Preparedness, Financial Administration and Sustainability; and Health Compliance and Responsiveness.

It could be recalled that Balbalan was conferred the Good Housekeeping award in 2011 and got its first-ever SGLG recognition in 2016.
