Balbalan, Kalinga - Mayor Almar Malannag has fervently advocated for an inclusive approach in the distribution of over P1.2 million in educational aid for senior high school students in Balbalan.

The generous cash assistance, courtesy of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, is strategically designed to alleviate financial pressures on students and their families.

The recipients, comprising Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from esteemed institutions such as St. Theresita's High School, Balbalan Agro-Industrial High School, Western Kalinga National High School, Balbalan National High School, and St. Paul Memorial High School, underwent meticulous verification by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

Coordinated by the SWAD-Kalinga Field Office in collaboration with MSWDO under the leadership of Myrna Canapi, the distribution unfolded on January 27, with each student receiving P3,000 as part of this impactful initiative.

Addressing the imperative need for inclusivity, Mayor Malannag emphasized that previous guidelines, limiting aid to indigents, failed to consider the reality that only a few senior high school students in the municipality come from higher-income families. This visionary decision not only bridges financial gaps but also cultivates a profound sense of unity and belonging among Balbalan's youth.

Through his steadfast efforts, Senior High School students in the municipality, regardless of family income, now stand as beneficiaries. The mayor’s strategic move recognizes the critical importance of breaking down barriers, ensuring that no student feels isolated due to economic circumstances.
