Balbalan police arrest 61-year-old man accused of raping minor

Balbalan, Kalinga – Police have arrested a 61-year-old construction worker from Gawaan, Balbalan on Monday, July 18, after a complaint was lodged accusing him of allegedly raping a minor in April this year.


The suspect is Balbalan’s Number 1 Top Most Wanted Person for the 2nd Quarter this 2022.


In a report by the police, the senior citizen was said to have been evading arrest but was cornered by operatives of Balbalan MPS and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) Kalinga PPO in Lower Poblacion, Balbalan, Kalinga on Monday.

The arrest was made after a warrant was issued by Hon. Randy Bulwayan, Presiding Judge of 2nd Judicial Region, RTC, Branch 39, Lubuagan, Kalinga, stating violation of Republic Act 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.


There is no bail bond recommended for said case.


Police report revealed that the elderly allegedly sexually abused a minor on April 7, 2022.


The suspect was also said to have threatened to kill the victim with a bolo.


The arrested senior citizen is currently detained at the Balbalan Municipal Police Station custodial facility while operatives await a commitment order from the court.
