Barangay in Tabuk initiates Cash for Work as ayuda alternative

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Since ayuda is unlikely with the limited fund of barangays, Barangay Magsaysay initiated Cash for Work, a 5-day labor for individuals who temporarily cannot work due to the restrictions of the Enhanced Community Quarantie imposed.

Punong Barangay Enrique Sagayo said the barangay came up with the scheme after their meeting last week wherein punong barangays in Tabuk decided not to give ayuda to their constituents with current fund inadequacy.

“Kasi haan nga umanay ngay dagitoy pondo tayo nga maigatang iti ayuda nga maiwaras amin iti kabarangayan. Ket siyempre nu usarek daytoy pondok nga para iti ayuda ket kurang, agriri ngay dagitoy haan maikkan,” he said.

“Tatta gapu ta kuna ni mayor diskarte yu nga kakapitan nu kasatnu yu nga matulungan ti ka-barangayan yu kunana ... pina-scout ko ngay dagiay talaga nga nagclose ti pwesto da, haan da nakatrabaho, dagitoy haan nakapasada – jay talaga nalockdown,” he added.

The beneficiaries who started cleaning around the barangay today, February 8 shall receive P300 a day.

“Trabaho iti naawan kanyada, di trabaho iti pansamantala nga maited,” Sagayo said.

Sagayo didn’t give the exact number of the beneficiaries as of interview but he said they made it to a point that one member of each family is given a slot for the program, “ngem mostly dagitoy inmununa nga nagtrabaho tatta ket muslim brothers dagitoy. Ket dagitoy muslim mapan nga 120 families.”

The Enhanced Community Quarantine in Tabuk, after its 1 week extension, is expected to be lifted on February 15.
