Barangay tanod in Isabela stabbed to death by drunk nephews

San Mateo, Isabela – A 51-year-old barangay tanod in Isabela died after he was stabbed by his nephews on Tuesday, July 9, in San Mateo, Isabela.

The victim was identified as Marlon Anghel, 51, a resident of said place while the suspects were his 20-year-old nephews identified as Norman Cabang and Ceasar Cabang.

Based on police accounts, Anghel proceeded to a place in Barangay Marasat Pequeno after receiving a call from the suspects’ father saying the two punched their grandmother.

It was said the killers hurt their grandmother after the elderly told them to stop drinking since they were already intoxicated.

When Anghel arrived and confronted the two 20-year-olds, Norman punched him and Ceasar attacked him with a knife.

Anghel sustained two stab wounds on his back, two on his shoulder, and one on his flank. The witnesses rushed him to a hospital nearby, but he did not make it.

Norman and Ceasar, meanwhile, were immediately apprehended by the authorities. They are now in the custody of San Mateo PNP and will be charged with homicide.
