Barocboc and San Mariano dominate Sta. Marcela Balangkoy Festival Sports Fest

Santa Marcela, Apayao – Sports tournament which serves as one of the initial activities during the celebration of the 57th Founding Anniversary and 20th Balangkoy Festival concluded Wednesday, June 12 with previous winners dominating the event.

Held at the EKB Memorial Sports Center, San Carlos, Santa Marcela, the annual sports fest during the commemorative activity featured the best young athletes of Santa Marcela’s 13 barangays.

The events comprised basketball tournament for men and volleyball for women.

Dominating this year’s basketball event with their historic 4-peat win are the players of Barangay Barocboc. Securing the second spot is the basketball team of Barangay Panay, while Barangay Consuelo snatched the third spot.

For the volleyball event played by the ladies, the San Mariano volleyball team secured their third championship title they initially claimed in 2022. Team Sipa, meantime, landed in second place and Team San Carlos in third place.

The local government of Sta. Marcela extended their felicitation to the winning teams as well as participants for their teamwork and dedication, paving the way for the success of the activity.

This June 15, the official kick-off of the festivities will transpire with various activities on deck.

Some of these activities include the float parade, the Agro-Industrial Fair, the Search for Libnos and Taer ti Santa Marcela 2024, Santa Marcela Motocross Challenge, and Cook fest, among other exciting activities.

The LGU headed by Mayor Evelyn Martinez, invites the public to come and experience the warm hospitality of their town and join the celebration full of fun, food, cultural performances, local products and many more thrilling activities.
