Bart Simpson, Monkey D. Luffy could also register SIM card in PH

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Apart from animals, cartoon characters can also pass the mandatory Subscriber Identity Module or SIM card registration in the country.

Earlier this month, the National Bureau of Investigation presented before the Senate their findings that a face of a monkey passed the SIM card registration system of all the telecommunications in the country.

Apparently, the identity of cartoon characters can also get through the system based on another test done by an Information Technology expert.

Mike Santos during the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission(PAOCC) press conference bared that he was able to register a Globe SIM using the face and name of Bart Simpson, a cartoon character from ‘The Simpsons’.

Even the identity of another character, Monkey D. Luffy of ‘One Piece’ was accepted by Smart.

To avoid the registration of SIMs under fake identities, PAOCC Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz recommended the use of manual verification through the scanning of IDs or pictures of people. He added that telecommunication companies may use actual people who can ask questions to the registrants instead of computers.
