‘Benguet has highest Dengue cases in CAR for Jan.-Jun. 2024’ – DOH-CAR

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Most of the Dengue victims from January 1 to June 1 this year were in Benguet, according to the Department of Health Cordillera.

 

Benguet has the highest number of cases with 759, followed by Baguio City with 468, Mt. Province with 320, Apayao with 207, Ifugao with 196, Abra -88 and Kalinga – 75.

 

Of all the provinces, Mt. Province noted the highest increase in cases at 86 percent, followed by Apayao with 66 percent increase. This is when compared to the same period last year.


Kalinga and Ifugao, meantime, were the only provinces that recorded a drop in cases with Kalinga noting a 48 percent decrease and Ifugao at 15 percent.

 

Three individuals, meantime, succumbed to the disease. Said casualties are from Apayao, Benguet and Baguio, as per record of the regional health department.

 

The Cordillera region listed 2,112 dengue cases in said period and out of said numbers, 1, 119 were males.

 

As to age, victim’s ages range from 3 months old to 94 years old with a median age of 22 years old.

 

DOH-CAR, renewed their call to the public to be vigilant and adhere to preventive measures to protect themselves from the disease – the 5S Strategy. These are the Search and Destroy, Self-protection, Seeking Early Consultation, Support Fogging and Spraying, and Staying hydrated.
