Benguet declared an insurgency-free province

La Trinidad, Benguet – No traces of insurgency and communist terrorist groups can now be found in the Province of Benguet.

This is after the province was declared as an insurgency and communist terrorist group–free last Sept. 22, 2023.

The declaration was made through a resolution approved by the Provincial Peace and Order Council(PPOC). This, according to PPOC Chairman, Governor Melchor Diclas is a formalization of Benguet’s years of peaceful status.

Benguet Police Provincial Director, PCol. Damian Olsim, as mentioned by PIA Cordillera, reported that no insurgency-related incidents happened in the province since 2018. He added that it was confirmed through the JAPIC Periodic Status Report Workshop 3rd Quarter 2022 that Benguet was removed as one of the operating areas of the weakened Guerilla Front – AMPIS.

This was seconded by 54th Infantry Battalion Commander, Col. Emmanuel Diasen who said that the military likewise didn’t monitor any CTG sightings or activities in Benguet.

“The province of Benguet has always been enjoying the benefits of a peaceful and unflustered community thus unanimously declare the expressed and united commitment to maintain the advocacy for culture of peace and to uphold and preserve the peaceful integrity of the locality,” the resolution reads.
