Benguet , Philippines – The Benguet Provincial Government recently hired 62 teachers to augment the needed educators assigned to the locality. Each will be receiving a P15,000 monthly wage after Governor Melchor Diclas approved the release of its budget.

A Memorandum of Agreement was forged Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Provincial Capitol between the provincial government and the Provincial School Board (PSB) teachers coming from the different municipalities of Benguet, witnessed by Benguet Schools Division Superintendent Gloria Buya-ao and Assistant Provincial Administrator Jennette Marie Bangao.

The Benguet Provincial Information Office reported that the teachers will be assigned to various public schools in the province starting this September to December.

Those who wish to continue teaching could renew their contracts in January next year since funds are being allocated on a calendar-year basis.

Governor Diclas in a message expressed gratitude to the PSB teachers for choosing to take the challenge of helping DepEd in continuing to ‘advance education’ especially now that the education sector is facing several challenges due to the pandemic.

The opportunity of becoming a PSB-teacher, Diclas said is beneficial since this could provide them opportunity to gain professional experience which they could use in becoming regular teachers in the near future.

SDS Buya-ao as a response thanked the Provincial Government for the strong support it has been giving to DepEd.

The Provincial LGU, as recalled, has been backing the efforts of DepEd-Benguet on its goal of continuing education despite being stricken by a pandemic through its donations. Education is one of the priorities of Diclas through its HEALTHIER Benguet agenda.

Meantime, aside from the PSB teachers, the governor has also mentioned procuring P10 million worth of tablets to further support DepEd.
