BFP Kalinga describes suffering of flood victims during relief operation in Cagayan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Bureau of Fire Protection - Kalinga, one among the rescue and relief teams sent by the Provincial Local Government Unit to Cagayan amidst the massive flooding described experience in their relief operation.


BFP– Kalinga Public Information Officer Sanny Esteban, who was also one among the personnel sent to Cagayan with a mission order this November 14 -15 and 16 – 17, said upon their arrival in the said province, they were welcomed by the struggle left by Ulysses to the people.


“Jay first mi nga bungad idjay. Makitam ti rigat da piman. Makitam agkaiwara dagijay lup- lupot nga lablabaan kada daduma...” he recalled.


Esteban added that the lines left by the flood on the houses reached even on the second floor. There were even those who were still on the roofs of their houses. There were areas, he added that were not passable due to the level of water, they have to use boats in order to enter the pathway.


The BFP – Kalinga in their rescue in Cagayan helped in unloading and delivering reliefs to the people.


Though it was hard to see people in such distress and in such situation, Esteban said that the smile and gratefulness in the people upon seeing the official seal of Kalinga made them even glad to be there to help.


“Dakkel ngay ti pasalamat da idi nakita da diyay seal of Kalinga,” he said.


“’Taga Kalinga kayu sir?’ Wen, dakami dagijay contingent iti Kalinga, ‘alla sir imbag man ta nakadanun kayu dituy,’ kunada. Mayat ngay ti pusom nga adda ijay piman nga tumulong. Lalalo idi simmangpet diyay chopper iti PNP idjay nga nangiyumay iti relief, dakayu paylang iti first kunada nga nagited,” he narrated.


Meanwhile, the other personnel that composed the Kalinga Provincial Government Rescue and Relief Team are the Special Action Force and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
