“Bituen ti Amianan” Awards conferred to regional line agencies, civil society organization in CAR

Baguio City, Philippines – The Office of the Civil Defense – Cordillera conferred “Bituen Ti Amianan” (North Star) Award to regional line agencies and civil society organizations which had exemplary performance in strengthening the resilience capacities of the communities despite various crises.


The awarding ceremony was held Friday, July 08 in Baguio City as the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022 kicked off.


Among the awardees, according to PIA- Cordillera, were DOST - CAR Director Nancy Bantog, the Vice – Chair on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; DILG Cordillera Director Araceli San Jose, Vice Chair for Disaster Preparedness; DSWD – CAR Director Arnel Garcia, Vice Chair for Disaster Response; and NEDA – CAR Director Susan Sumbeling, Vice Chair for Disaster Recovery and Rehabilitation.

Also awarded were the regional offices of Department of Natural Resources (DENR), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), among others.


On the part of uniformed personnel, those given recognition were Police Regional Office - Cordillera, the 503rd Infantry Brigade of Philippine Army, Tactical Operations Group of PH Air Force, PH Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon, PH Navy Naval Force Northern Luzon, 14th Regional Community Defense Group.

The awardees, through their messages, assured their preparedness in performing their role for regional resilience.


“Formative and innovative DRRM strategies are always at the fore of our plans toward our aim to reduce, if not to prevent disaster risk in all sectors,” Bantog said.
