BM Langkit proposed P800/day wage hike for JO licensed health care professionals in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – An ordinance seeking for a wage hike in favor of job order health care professionals within the Kalinga Provincial Hospital is now awaiting approval.

The ordinance was authored by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Danzel Langkit, the Chairman of the Civil Service and Human Resource Development Committee.

The ordinance known as Provincial Ordinance No. 2024-023, seeks to amend a similar ordinance in 2020 which set the minimum daily wage of health professionals of licensed nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists, radiologists, and midwives to P500.

In the new ordinance, the minimum rate for licensed and registered health professionals will be P800 a day.

Apart from the wage hike, other healthcare professionals apart from those earlier mentioned, who are likewise licensed and registered under the Professional Regulation Commission will benefit from the wage hike.

This would mean that those working as psychometricians, dentists, nutritionists, dieticians, psychologists, social workers, and therapists will also be favored by the wage increase ordinance.

The inclusion of said health workers in the wage increase, according to BM Langkit, is just fair since they are licensed professionals and performing equally important jobs like the other health workers, particularly in dealing with patients.

Once approved, the ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 2025.

Apart from said ordinance, BM Langkit is also seeking for a P430 wage increase for JOs working under the provincial government. The ordinance relative to said move, is co-authored by Board Member Tony Almeda Bakilan.
