Body of 75-yr.-old man found in Cagayan River

Gattaran, Cagayan – After he went missing on Saturday, the lifeless body of an elderly man was recovered by the municipal rescuers of Amulung along the Cagayan River in Gattaran town, 7 AM of July 17.

75-year-old Julito Villarosa, a resident of Dugayung Amulung, went out of their house over the weekend and went fishing on said river particularly within the vicinity of Amulung, but has not come home since then.

A relative of the victim informed the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Amulung regarding the incident, urging the office to immediately conduct a search and rescue operation.

It was on Monday, July 17, when the rescuers caught sight of a dead body floating on the river, particularly in Barangay Nassiping, Gattaran.

The body, when retrieved, was positively identified as that of Villarosa by his immediate family, Jenelson Cabauatan.

Relative to this, a drowning incident involving a 7-year-old girl also took place in the province, in Baggao last week.

This happened four days prior to the drowning incident in Amulung.

The lifeless body of the girl was discovered by their neighbor in a shallow part of a river in said town.
