Bodies of Gonzalo siblings finally recovered


Tabuk City, Kalinga – The bodies of Gonzalo siblings who drowned in the Chico River on February 01 were found finally by authorities during their fourth day of search and retrieval operations.


Remains of Frank Smith Gonzalo, 17, were found at around 11:47 a.m. today, February 04, at Chico River Line, between Purok 1 and Purok 2 of Cabaruan, Tabuk City. Meanwhile, the body of Maybelle Gonzalo, 20, was recovered at around 5:45 p.m. at the boundary of Cabaruan and Sucbot.


Provincial Disaster Risk and Management Council reported this through Provincial Governor’s Office-Information Services.


Through the initiative of PDRRMC Chairperson, Governor Ferdinand Tubban, search and retrieval teams from Cagayan have joined the force of the provincial government unit of Kalinga for the search and retrieval operation.

Personnel of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Cagayan have arrived earlier today to help with the search.


Also deployed along with the said team were rescuers and personnel from 1405th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn); Region 2 Coast Guard, Task Force Lingkod Cagayan; CDC; Amulung Cagayan; 503rd Infantry Brigade; PNP; BFP; SWAT Tabuk City; CDRRMO; PDRRMO; divers of Taloctoc, Tanudan, and Lubuagan; WASAR Team; BPATs; and officials of all barangays within the area of Tabuk City and Pinukpuk.
