Body of man retrieved 5 days after drowning in Benguet’s Amburayan River

Kapangan, Benguet - After five days of search, the body of a 36-year-old man wh0 drowned in a river in Kapangan, Benguet last week was finally found by authorities morning of July 17.


Kapangan Municipal Police Station reported that the victim drowned on July 12, 2024, in the Amburayan River in sitio Alem, Sagubo, Kapangan.


He was identified as Larry Dayso Baydangan, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet.


In his interview with local media, Kapangan PNP Chief George Cupido relayed that Baydangan’s body was discovered lying between large rocks in said river around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17.


The body was retrieved at 5:30 pm on the same day and was transported to Shilan, La Trinidad on July 18 for his wake.


The search and rescue operation was conducted by the members of the Kapangan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, BFP - Kapangan, and Barangay Sagubo Peacekeeping Action Team.
