Body of missing 10-year-old boy in Pinukpuk found in Tuao, Cagayan

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – After six days of search and retrieval operation, the remains of the ten-year-old boy who went missing on June 6 were finally found by rescuers at the Chico River in Purok 4, Barangay Fugu, Tuao, Cagayan.


“Ni Jake Bacaya ket nabirukanen apo. Nasalaw ti bangkay na sadiay karayan ti Tuao, Cagayan,” a relative informed through a Facebook post.


Bacaya , a grade 4 pupil and a resident of Riverside, Taga, Pinukpuk was last seen 4 PM of June 6. He had not been found since then.


At 8 AM of June 12, PNP Pinukpuk were notified by MDRRMO Warren Turoc that a dead body was found in Chico River

As recalled, her sister told police that her younger brother came from his father’s workplace and went home at around 4 PM, but her father later discovered that he was still not around at 5 PM prompting them to search for the victim.


It is believed that the child went to the Saltan River to swim on said date as his relatives found a pair of the victim’s slipper on the river bank.


Search and retrieval operation was conducted immediately by personnel of Pinukpuk MDRRMO, Taga BDRRMC, Bureau of Fire Protection-Pinukpuk, PNP-Pinukpuk and relatives.


Likewise, The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have also sent personnel to help in the search but the boy was not found.


PDRRMC-Kalinga later coordinated with Cagayan Coast Guard and Tuao MDRRMO regarding the missing youngster where his body was retrieved.
