Man believed to have been executed found floating in Abra river

Abra, Philippines – A 24-year-old man believed to be a victim of summary execution or “salvaging” was found on Friday afternoon in Bangued, Abra.


The victim’s body was discovered by Diony Trinidad and Allan Jim Marzan who went fishing in Abra River along Calaba, Bangued around 2 p.m.

The man’s body was wrapped in canvas of the sort used for tents and was tightly tied with plastic straw rope.


The victim, according to the Provincial Forensic Unit, bore a gunshot wound on his left shoulder.


He was later identified as Jeiel Adaro Persona, 24, a resident of Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra.


Police are investigating the incident to identify the culprits behind the killing.
