Bontoc to improve Amfikiyan-Mayayat Road and Public Market for P45M

Updated: Jun 13

Bontoc, Mountain Province – With a P45 million funding from the national government, two proposed infrastructure projects of the Municipality of Bontoc, Mt. Province are expected to be constructed this year.

The national government, through the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), provided P25 million for the improvement of the Amfikiyan to Mayayat Local Access Road and another P20 million for the improvement of Bontoc Public Market Phase I.

On June 6, 2024, the municipal officials, led by Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr., convened to ensure the efficient implementation of the projects.

During the meeting, the Mayor recounted that the proposed improvement of Bontoc Public Market Phase I came after the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) team declared that the building is no longer safe due to the aftermath of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck the place on July 27, 2022.

The improvement of the Amfikiyan - Mayayat Local Access Road, meantime, aims to improve the agricultural activities of the farmers and to provide an easier and safer means of transportation during medical emergencies.

Representatives from the OPAPRU, meanwhile, visited the community who will benefit from the said projects on same day.

The residents extended their gratitude to the agency for the realization of the projects.
