Boom crane hits and runs over a man in Ilagan, Isabela

Isabela, Philippines - An unlicensed boom crane was involved in a road accident in Ilagan, Isabela, claiming a man’s life on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Based on the police investigation conducted, it was revealed that the suspect driving the boom crane, identified as Edieson Santos, 39, was traversing the road in Barangay Centro Poblacion on the evening of said day when the incident transpired.

Santos hit the rear part of a motorcycle he was following. The motorcycle rider was identified as Abner Perez, 42, a resident of San Mariano, Isabela.

Police said that Perez was thrown away with the impact and landed on the road. He was eventually rolled over by the boom crane, which gave him severe injuries to various parts of his body.

Attempts were made to save the victim’s life while he was being rushed to a hospital in the city by the responding authorities, but he was unable to survive.

Santos, meanwhile, is now in the custody of Ilagan Police Station for proper documentation.

He will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
