Brgy. Appas, Tabuk City records zero evacuees during height of typhoon "Kristine”

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Severe Tropical Storm "Kristine" forced the evacuation of more than 200 families from other barangays in Tabuk City, Kalinga, but Barangay Appas recorded zero evacuees.

The CDRRMO-Tabuk reported that 247 families from different barangays in the city have been since Tuesday night, October 22, due to the typhoon. Fortunately, Barangay Appas, in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, confirmed that the lists did not include any of its residents.

The BLGU, through its Secretary Brenda Depalog, said that as of Thursday, October 25, there was only minimal flooding in their area and no evacuees during the onslaught of the typhoon.

“Awan met ketdi ti nalayos nga grabe ken awan evacuees me so far... Ngem itultuloy mi latta ti monitoring," Depalog added.

Under the command of Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as, the BLGU mobilized a team anew to monitor the situation of its people and provide aid when needed during and after the height of the typhoon.

“Kasla met lang idi  napalabas nga typhoons, nag-form ni barangay captain ti team nga apan nag-check  ken ag-che-check hanggang tatta ti sitwasyon ti bumarangay... Tapno masiguro nga nu adda man ti naapektuan ket maikkan mi dagus tulong wenno ma-evacuate nu kasapulan,” the barangay secretary added.

According to Depalog, the team comprised the disaster and risk reduction management, peace and order officers or tanods, the barangay council, and other barangay employees. Their duties included assessing whether the typhoon caused any damage to homes, infrastructure, or public facilities in the barangay.

Moreover, the team has been roving areas near the Chico River, particularly in Sitio Lapog and Sitio New Island, which are at high risk for flooding. As of Wednesday, October 23, the Chico River in the barangay was at an "orange" level, indicating no serious level of flooding.

While the team continues its inspections, the BLGU is asking its residents to inform them if the typhoon has caused any damage to their homes. This will enable them to provide assistance and forward the information to the relevant agencies.

Residents can contact the BLGU through CP# 09568159575 in case of emergencies or any other concerns.
