Bulanao Centro, only barangay in Kalinga declared as national passer in SGLGB awards

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Out of the 153 barangays in the Province of Kalinga, only Bulanao Centro was declared national passer in the pilot implementation of the 2021 Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) awards, as confirmed by Department of Interior and Local Government – Kalinga on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

“SGLGB is a progressive performance system that aims to give distinction to selected barangays for their remarkable performance across governance areas, putting primacy on integrity and good performance as pillars of meaningful local autonomy and development,” explained the department.


2021 SGLGB Requirements


According DILG – Kalinga, a barangay must pass all three core areas specified under DILG MC No. 2021-074.


The core values are Safety, Peace and Order; Financial Administration and Sustainability; and Disaster Preparedness.

Further, a barangay is also required to pass at least one of the three essential areas namely: Social Protection and Sensitivity; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; and Environmental Management.


The department expressed its felicitations to Bulanao Centro in its social media post.


SGLGB Passers in Cordillera Out of the 549 barangays nationwide which were selected by the SGLGB National Quality Committee as national passers, 25 are from Cordillera.


The national passers in the region are Barangays Bontoc Ili, Samoki, Tocucan, and Lagan of Mountain Province, among others.
