Buntun bridge in Tuguegarao City still unpassable to heavy vehicles

Cagayan, Philippines – Heavy-duty vehicles are still not allowed to pass through the Buntun bridge in Tuguegarao City, as of January 20, 2023.

Vehicles with 15 tons load limit or more should take the Maharlika road going to Manila while those North bound can pass through the Mallig-Tumauini road and the Roxas-Gamu road, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office reported.

Only light vehicles can utilize the bridge as of writing.

It was on January 18 that the Department of Public Works and Highways announced that the deck slab of the Buntun Bridge was damaged.

Maintenance personnel of the Cagayan 3rd District Engineering Office have been deployed to fix the hole. However, they cannot give exact date yet as to when the bridge can be accessible to heavy automobiles.

The DPWH Cagayan Valley guaranteed the Buntun Bridge is safe to motorists.
