Burglar in Malalao, Tabuk City tilts CCTV upwards, breaks into house, leaves taking nothing

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Burglars mostly target homes when their occupants are out, just like what happened last weekend in Malalao, Tabuk City.

For the third quarter of 2024, reported cases of robbery in Kalinga tripled compared to the same period last year. Data from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office stated that 7 incidents of robbery were documented from July to September this year, three times higher than the 2 cases during last year’s third quarter.

The latest incident of a break-in in the province transpired last Sunday, October 20, in Purok 3, Malalao.

As recalled by one of the family members to GURU Press Cordillera, they left their house on Sunday morning to attend a mass. But little did they know, a man was waiting for an opportunity to break into their place.

Based on CCTV footage, the man who was not familiar with the house occupants entered their place around 11:30 a.m.

“Awan tao idiay balay mi ta napan kami nakimisa, ket daytoy agtakaw nagna idiay kusina mi idiay window na,” the family member said.

She further described that the man played with the CCTV and redirected it, turning it upwards before entering the house through the window by the kitchen. Said window was locked but the suspect gained entry by breaking its glass. The suspect stayed inside for about five minutes but left the house carrying nothing.

Although the burglar did not take anything from the house, the resident reminded the public that thieves target houses any time of the day and that people should be vigilant and secure their homes.
