Burglars ransack grocery store in Tabuk; cash and groceries stolen

Tabuk City, Kalinga –  The burglars did it again!

The latest victim of burglary in the City of Tabuk is a grocery store in Dagupan Centro which was forcefully opened on Sunday night, says Punong Barangay George Esteras.

Thieves and burglars have been targeting home and establishments, specifically when the owners are not around. In 2024, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office recorded a total of 6 theft and 15 cases of robbery or burglary in Tabuk City. The PNP Tabuk classifies burglary under the category of robbery in their list of index crimes.

On Monday, January 13, Punong Barangay Esteras through his FB Page informed that a grocery in Dagupan Centro became the recent victim of unscrupulous people.

In an interview, Esteras told GURU Press Cordillera that the burglars forced themselves into the establishment at night of January 12 and took more than P30,000 cash and P12,000-worth of grocery items.

With the incident, the barangay captain advised all businessowners to secure their establishments, and if possible, install CCTV cameras in their building.

Meantime, while there were installed CCTV cameras around Dagupan Centro, Esteras said that unfortunately some were damaged by yet to be known individuals.

Esteras is appealing to the public to help in protecting and not destroying the facilities as they are aid much in maintaining peace and order in the barangay.
