Buscalan, Tinglayan easier to reach with new P10M footbridge and pathway

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The long-awaited clamour of Buscalan residents and tourists to have a footbridge and pathway that would shorten the trek to the village of Apo Whang-od has been granted.

The dream has been realized with the fund requested by the local government unit to the office of Senator Robin Padilla.

The actor turned politician visited Kalinga last year, giving opportunity for Tinglayan officials headed by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab to request funding for the much-needed infrastructure.

Padilla granted the request and after necessary processes, the P10 million fund was forwarded by the Department of Budget and Management to the LGU as a local government support fund.

The projects were immediately started in January this year and were completed last week of July.

With the 137-meter footbridge and an improved pathway, visiting Whang-od was made easier for tourists.

“Dakkel iti advantage na iti turista, haan dan nga marigatan nga sumang-at ken kadagituy residents, haan dan unay marigatan kadagituy ibaba da nga agricultural products da idiay ayan iti highway,” Mayor Gumilab said, in an interview.

Gumilab, on behalf of the Tinglayanos, extended his gratitude to the senator for fulfilling his promise.

“Nalaus ti panagyaman ko ken iti umili nga taga Buscalan iti daytoy nga proyekto ta dakkel iti impact na ditoy Tinglayan. Daytoy metlang ket maysa metlang nga addition iti nabayag tayo metlang nga arapaap nga inkabil tayo iti maysa nga slogan nga ‘Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy,” the mayor remarked.

The projects’ turn-over to the community will be done in the next weeks.

Gumilab, however, said that the schedule of turnover would depend on the availability of Senator Padilla as he informed them he shall be present during the ceremony.

Apart from the project, another P10 million fund was granted by Padilla to the municipality that was utilized for the improvement and widening of road in Barangay Dananao.
