Businesswoman in Benguet lost millions worth of gold to five robbers

Itogon, Benguet – Held at gunpoint, a businesswoman in Benguet was left with no option but to watch five men take a large amount of her hard-earned money and gold coins.

The 42-year-old victim was doing an inventory at her shop in Ucab, Itogon last Sunday, May 19, when five armed men barged in around 8:20 p.m.

Itogon police Officer-in-Charge, PMaj. Allan Alog relayed during his interview with Bombo Radyo Baguio recently that the five suspects described to be wearing bonnets and masks with short and long firearms declared a “holdup”.

Alog added that the men held the victim by the hair while a gun was pointed at her and asked her to lead them to the room where she kept her vault. The 42-year-old, however, told them that her cash and gold coins were at the cashier.

Right then, the five robbers took the cash estimated to be P600,000 and a kilo of gold coins amounting to P6 million and left the shop.

The Itogon police OIC informed they already have persons of interest and that investigators are currently conducting deeper probe on the incident for the identification and arrest of the five robbers.
