62-yr.-old rider in Tabuk dies after neck caught by cable wire

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A family in Tabuk City is grieving the loss of their 62-year-old father after a tragic road accident on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

The deceased, John Bagni, was riding his XRM motorcycle around 2:50 p.m. on the said date in Barangay Bantay when he passed through a cable wire hanging loosely on the road, as revealed by the Tabuk City police's initial investigation.

It was further explained that the man’s neck struck the wire, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and tumble to the ground.

The victim was initially taken to Kalinga Provincial Hospital and later referred to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

In a follow-up investigation by the Tabuk police, it was discovered that there was an ongoing clearing operation by KAELCO at the time of the incident. Investigators were informed by the personnel involved in the operation that the wire was already hanging low on the road before the incident, but it descended even lower during the clearing.

When asked for their comment, KAELCO stated that they are awaiting the results of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the authorities.
