Instead of their graduating son they are hugging, a pair of parents in Cagayan only got to hold in their arms the picture of their kid and the academic gown he was supposed to be wearing on the momentous occasion.

Cagayan State University Aparri Campus Parents’ Night was recently filled with tears as the grief of two parents – an emotional mom hugging a toga and a dad holding a graduation picture radiates to the people watching them walk down the red carpet.

The couple’s son, Angelo Estal, was supposed to graduate with the degree Bachelor of Science in Criminology this coming July 12 but he passed away due to road accident on June 20 this year.

RusselRenz Ramos who captured the heart-wrenching scene and posted it on Facebook on July 05 wrote that it is the most emotional Parents’ Night he attended so far.

“After all of the parents' nights that I've attended to take photos and other documentation, this was the most emotional and melancholic part that touched my heart,” he captioned.

“…This was supposedly one of the happiest and most unforgettable events of his life, yet it became a memory of his unwanted loss,” he added.

On June 15, another mother marched on stage for her son who passed away before he got a hold of his diploma from the University of Cagayan Valley.
