Cagayan police officer gunned-down in Cabagan, Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – A police officer from Cagayan was gunned down after yet unknown assailants sprayed bullets into his car leaving him dead.

The ambush happened on Thursday morning, July 7, 2022 in Cabagan, Isabela.

Isabela Police Provincial Office identified the officer as Police Corporal Marnix Baquiran, 34, and a resident of Barangay Camasi. He was assigned to the Reina Mercedes Police Station.

Initial investigation stated that the victim was traversing the Bypass Road towards Barangay Ngarag, Cabagan around 8:00 in the morning today when just before he could reach his destination, he was ambushed by unidentified individuals said to be on board an SUV.

Baquiran was found dead inside his silver Toyota Fortuner with about 10 gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.

Authorities conducted a dragnet operation and coordinated with possible witnesses to the crime for the identity and arrest of the suspects.

Investigation is still in progress.
