Cagayan records 4 drowning incidents over the weekend

Cagayan, Philippines – Four individuals were no longer breathing when their bodies were retrieved following three separate drowning incidents in Cagayan on Saturday, July 13.

The first incident involved two minors aged 13 and 10. The two along with their relatives went to the irrigation canal in Cambong, Lal-lo to gather ‘tulya’ (a kind of river clam), and while doing the task, they went to the deeper portion of the water where they drowned.

The victims were not saved by their relatives as the incident happened so fast, according to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.

On the same day in Iguig, another drowning transpired involving a 20-year-old who was with her friends on a picnic to celebrate one of their peers’ birthday. The cadaver was retrieved Monday morning, July 15, at the Cagayan River in Amulung.

The third incident, meanwhile, involved a 15-year-old resident of Calamagui, Amulung. The victim was reported missing on Saturday, and she was found lifeless at the Cagayan River in Carallangan, Alcala on Sunday, July 14.
