Cagayan records highest Covid-19 related DEATH at 18 in one day

Cagayan, Philippines − The Province of Cagayan recorded 18 Covid-19 related death on August 17, the highest number of casualties documented in the province in one day since the start of the pandemic last year.

According to Cagayan Provincial Information Office, there are five places in the province that recorded 3 Covid-19 death each. These include Alcala, Baggao, Solana, Sta. Teresita, and Tuguegarao City.

The 18 casualties brought the total Covid-19 related death in Cagayan to 618.

There were 387 new cases in Cagayan on August 17, bringing the total Covid-19 active cases to 3,055. Of this 3,055, 1,069 are in Tuguegarao City.

The Cagayan Valley Medical Center also reported a total of 274 Covid-19 patients admitted to the hospital. 251 of them are confirmed cases, while 23 are suspected.

Meantime, according to the data released by the OCTA Research Group, Cagayan is among the seven provinces in the country in which health care utilization is in a critical stage from August 8 -14. This means that the percentage of bed occupancy is high, including the ICU utilization.

Currently, Cagayan reports having 85% bed occupancy and 91% ICU.
