1 killed, 2 severely injured in Cagayan after tricycle hits street light

Claveria, Cagayan – A tricycle driver died while his two passengers were critically injured in a road accident along Taggat Norte, Claveria at 1 AM of Wednesday, October 19, police said.

Rodante Balbag, 36, died while he was being ferried to the Northern Cagayan District Hospital in Sanchez Mira.

His two passengers identified as Roberto, 60, and Sensen, 27, are in critical condition and are currently undergoing medication.

According to Claveria police, the driver was speeding while traversing Boulevard Road in said town.

With fast speed, he overshot a curve part of the road, resulting in the tricycle’s sidecar crashing into a post of a streetlight.

Due to the impact, the sidecar was detached, throwing the driver, along with the two passengers, out of the vehicle.

Police are investigating the driver’s condition when the incident happened.
