Cagayan Valley records 105 dismissed police since 2016

Cagayan, Philippines – There have been more than a hundred police officers assigned in Cagayan Valley region removed from the police service since 2016.

Police Regional Office II – Regional Public Information disclosed that for six years of government’s internal cleansing, 105 cops have been dismissed in the region.

Internal cleansing is PNP’s program that aims at fighting corruption within the organization.

Based on the data of the PRO2, these 105 police officers were found guilty of Grave Misconduct, Grave Neglect of Duty (Absence Without Official Leave), and Conduct Unbecoming an Officer.

The said uniformed personnel were fired and lost all the benefits they could receive from the government.

Police Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Steve Ludan conveyed that this number of cops removed from the service showed that they do not tolerate any irregularities and illegal activities on the part of the police force in region 2.

“This is a clear manifestation that we are serious in our desire to cleanse our rank in the PNP and we do not tolerate any member of the Valley Cops who violates the law and gets involved in any irregularities and illegal activities,” he said in a statement.

In the entire Philippines, over 5,599 police have been dismissed from service in the entire country from July 2016 to March 30, 2022. Of the figure, 714 were said to have been found to be involved in illegal drugs.
