Cagayan’s top most wanted who killed man in Apayao arrested


Cagayan, Philippines – Cagayan Valley region’s top one most wanted person is finally arrested after almost nine years of evading law enforcement.


The suspect killer went into hiding after he allegedly shot to death a man in Apayao in 2012.


Police Regional Office 2 – Regional Public Information Office said that Edwin Garduque Ramento, 36, and a native of Lablabig, Claveria, was arrested at 2:00 in the afternoon of July 24 at a gas station in Rosario, Cavite, where he works.


The warrant of arrest was served by the operatives in coordination with Rosario Municipal Police Station.


Ramento is the suspect of a shooting incident along a barangay road in Barocboc, Sta Marcela, Apayao on August 1, 2012, which resulted in the death of Marciano Libed Yadao.

Ramento was identified by the Sta Marcela police after investigation and verification with the Land Transportation Office of the black Honda TMX motorcycle that was seen leaving the place of the incident, just after the crime was committed.


On November 15, 2012, a warrant of arrest for murder with the use of an illegally possessed firearm was issued by Judge Seferino Andaya of Regional Trial Court Branch 26, in Apayao. Nevertheless, Ramento had not been apprehended until July 24, 2021.


The suspect is still under the custody of the Rosario MPS for his travel requirements.


He will be brought to Claveria police station for booking procedures prior to his turn over to the court, which has the jurisdiction to hear his case.
