Cagayan Valley, Philippines – As pillars in the development of their children’s well-being, part of fathers’ responsibilities are to defend and protect their family members. This, however, is not the case for a father who raped his teen daughter in Cagayan Valley.

The 48-year-old alias “Pedring” is now under the custody of Aglipay Municipal Police Station following his arrest on Monday, February 20. He was regarded as Top 1 Most Wanted Person in Cagayan Valley under the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), the Public Information Office of Police Regional Office 2 reported.

The suspect, a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Dagupan, Aglipay, Quirino, was charged with nine counts of Rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

He started molesting her then-13-year-old daughter in 2019. The victim feared her father such that she did not report to the authorities.

The victim suffered from a series of rape incidents and it was only on October 25, 2022, that she got the courage to confide in her teacher.

By virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on January 18, 2023, alias “Pedring” was arrested through the joint operation of Aglipay Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit 2, and Provincial Intelligence Unit, Quirino Police Provincial Office.

In a statement, the top cop of Region 2 PBGEN Percival Rumbaoa commended the police personnel who are behind the capture of the most wanted person in the region and asked them to intensify their efforts against the crimes such as rape, among other transgressions.
