Brgy. kagawad candidate in Isabela caught with illegal firearm while dozing at store

Isabela, Philippines – A man running for barangay kagawad in Baggao, Isabela was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 04, for illegal possession of a firearm.

Baggao police said they responded at around 3 p.m. of said day to a call they received, informing them of a man with a gun sleeping in front of a store in San Isidro village.

The authorities arrived at the area and confirmed that the man, hidden by police as alias “Randy”, was carrying a firearm. He could not provide a document for the firearm, resulting in his arrest.

The police later found out that “Randy” is a candidate for village council member for 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

He will face charges for violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10918 (Comelec Gun Ban) and RA10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
