CAR records 13 new Delta cases, Mt. Province remains Delta-free

Baguio City- The Department of Health recorded 13 new COVID-19 Delta variant cases in 5 provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region on September 5, 2021, bringing the total number of said variant cases to 25.


Of the 13 new Delta cases, 7 are recorded in Baguio, 2 in Apayao, and 1 each in Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, and Kalinga.


DOH-CAR clarified that the 3 Delta cases of Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) which is 2 from Abra and 1 from Baguio City, are not considered as Cordillera cases.


As of press time, only Mountain Province remains free from the transmissible variant in the region.


Since the first Delta case in CAR was recorded in Apayao, the province has recognized the need for early response measures in preventing the possible surge, such that travel restrictions and border control measures were updated.

Mountain Province reiterated that members of the public are strictly enjoined to limit their movements and travel for essential purposes.


Meanwhile, DOH-CAR reminded the community to continue observing the minimum health protocols such as wearing of facemask and face shield, social distancing, regular hand washing, and supporting vaccination.


“While the threat of COVID-19 and its variants, through the cooperation and unity, we CAN and we WILL win this fight,” DOH-CAR officials stated.
