CARAA meet 2023 tentatively set in April

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Three years since its postponement, the biggest gathering of athletes in the Cordillera region is back and is tentatively set on April 29 to May 1, 2023.

It was in 2020 when the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association(CARAA) meet was held due to the threat of Covid-19.

Three years later, the athletes coming from the different provinces and cities in the region will now have the chance to practice sportsmanship and camaraderie as they play in different games.

In preparation for the event, the Department of Education – Cordillera relayed that sports officers met for the CARAA Meet Planning Conference on February 16, 2023. The convention is for the enhancement of the technical guidelines and ground rules for the event and also to organize the CARAA Board and technical committees and officials.

Said officers also inventoried sports equipment and discussed other concerns.

DepEd Cordillera Regional Director Estela Leon- Cariño emphasized that CARAA Meet must be a way for the region to unite.

“While these kinds of sports events help in the overall development of a child, plan sensibly for our learners. This event must be a platform of development and exposure rather than competition per se. It must likewise be a way by which we unite,” she said.

Winners in the CARAA Meet will be representing the Cordillera region in this year’s Palarong Pambansa on July 29 – August 5.
