Caving activities in Sagada re-opened to foreign, local tourists


Sagada, Mountain Province – Caving activities, the most frequented local tourist activity in Sagada has been opened recently by the Local Government Unit of Sagada.


Sumaging, Lumiang and Balangagan caves are among those available for tourists to go to at present.


Municipal Tourism Officer Maria Theresa Abad in a press release published Friday, July 1 by Mountain Province Broadcasting Corporation, said that the municipality has eased its quarantine restrictions and it is expected that local and foreign tourists shall again visit the municipality.

Along with Balangagan cave, the famous Pongas Falls which can be reached by trekking – going past abundant rice terraces, rivers, and canyons on the mountainside is also open for visits.


Aside from the caves, the tourism officer said that more tourist destinations will be offered this year.


Tourism activities were gradually allowed in Sagada in November last year but only selected tourist destinations were opened to public.


Some attractions that should not be missed include Marlboro Blue Soil and Ampacao Mountain.

These are among the locality’s popular attractions along with other mountain valleys, rice fields, burial and limestone caves, waterfalls, and cliffs that come with a sea of clouds.
