Celebration for 29th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 5th Bodong Festival begins

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The two-week-long 29th Founding Anniversary and 5th Bodong Festival begin today, February 5, 2024.


It started with an ecumenical service, followed by cultural performances from the students of Kalinga State University-Laboratory High School.


A ‘taug’ or ceremonial toast by provincial, municipal, and city officials was likewise conducted.


Signifying the beginning of the two-week-long festivities, Governor James S. Edduba made the formal declaration, accompanied by the beating of the gong three times.


The donning of sash for the 21 candidates for Mister and Miss Kalinga was likewise held, serving as one of the highlights of the opening ceremony.


In the afternoon, the opening of the Kalinga Treasures Fair was likewise conducted, where local products, including wearables, fashion accessories, coffee, cacao, furniture, handicrafts, processed fruits, and nuts, among others, were displayed for locals and tourists.


More activities shall follow, including the Lumin-awa Trek Adventure from February 7–10, the Kalinga Bodong Youth Summit, the turnover ceremony of the Banneng-Darulog Farm to Market Road on February 8, 2024, and the preliminary competition for the Mr. and Ms. Kalinga pageant that will be happening on February 9 at the Rang-ay Eco-Adventure and Resort in Babalag West, Rizal, Kalinga.


On February 10, the scheduled event is the Bodong Bikefest, while the Bodong Congress and Kalinga Lumin-awa Off-road will happen alongside the event, which will last until Sunday, February 11.


On February 12, the cultural parade shall transpire, followed by a formal program and the opening of the agro-fair, Pasil Slow Food, and Earth Market in the morning.


The Bodong Portrayal of Balbalan and Tinglayan will also come about on the same day, followed by the ‘Digdiga di Tupayya’ and the Lumin-awa Kalinga Concert.


A number of highly anticipated activities, such as the Secondary Schools Drum and Lyre Competition and the Bodong Festival Street Dance Competition, will take center stage at the celebration on February 13.


The province's new ambassador and ambassadress will also be crowned at 6 p.m. The Bodong Job and Skills Fair, which takes place in conjunction with the activities, will run for two days until February 14.


On February 14, Kalinga's anniversary day, there will be a ceremonial program and a magnificent municipal procession in the morning, and in the afternoon, there will be Kalinga Laga Show and the Elementary Schools Drum and Lyre Competition.
