Mt. Province, Philippines – Want to live a long and healthy life?

Two centenarians in Mt. Province recently shared their secret for achieving their old age.

When the officials and employees of the provincial government visited centenarians Angelina Dongonan Ag-a in Soquib, Besao, and Magdalena Bisoy Dida in Tue, Tadian, the two linked eating “ube/togi” or sweet potatoes and banana blossoms to their longevity.

Other centenarians from the same province and even a few in Tinglayan, Kalinga previously said sweet potatoes are also their secret to long life.

Now at 100, Ag-a and Dida still have sharp memories and are able to walk, reported PIA Mountain Province.

The two were conferred P50,000 each with a plaque of recognition on May 15.

The turnover was witnessed by Board Members Henry D. Bastian Jr., Johnson D. Bantog, and Ricardo M. Masidong; Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Miguela P. Angwani and her team; provincial government employees, Besao and Tadian local officials, and employees, among others.

They will also receive P100,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development pursuant to RA 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.
