‘Christ centered-service, needed to serve with sincerity’ - VG Baac during X’mas Lighting Ceremony

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga Vice Governor Jocel Baac underscored the importance of “placing Christ at the center of our hearts to enable a strong commitment to serve Kalinga with respect, integrity, truthfulness, and sincerity.”


Baac, speaking to hundreds of audience, during the province’s Christmas Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Capitol Plaza Park, Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk, reminded the people of the reason for Christ’s birth in which one is to serve.

The vice governor expressed joy and gratitude for the huge attendance and encouraged the people to engage in self-reflection, embrace love, share, care for others, participate in gift-giving, and, above all, practice forgiveness as Christ has shown to humanity.


Baac also hopes for continued participation and unity to support their administration's initiative, 'Lumin-awa Kalinga,' aiming for constituents to proclaim proudly that 'Kalinga Shines.' He highlighted that the illuminated lights during the event symbolize the brighter future envisioned for the province of Kalinga.


“We hope that you continue to participate and work with us, let’s all be united to sustain our call, ‘Lumin-awa Kalinga’ so that we shall always say that, ‘Kalinga Shines’,” he expressed.


After the lighting ceremony, fun contested activities were conducted with giveaways and cash prizes for participants from the crowd and a “Happy Hour” with an entertainment gig by some yKalinga local musicians.


Hundreds of spectators from all walks of life, young and old, including government workers, employees from different LGUs in Kalinga, and visitors witnessed the ceremony that illuminated the whole of the Capitol Building and the Plaza Park, signifying that indeed, Christmas has arrived.


The Capitol Plaza will stay open until next year for those who want to bring their family and friends and experience the magical lights there.


A Carnival Fun is also placed beside the PDRRM building for everyone to enjoy carnival games, entertainment, food trips, and more.
