‘COC filing for May 2025 polls in Kalinga is peaceful so far’ – PNP Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – There are no untoward incidents related to the ongoing filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the May 2025 national and local elections in Kalinga so far, according to the Kalinga police.

 

The filing of COC started on Tuesday, October 01, and will end on October 08.  

 

As of 5:00 p.m. of October 05, there are 2 aspirants for Congressman; 2 for governor; 1 for vice governor; and 6 for board members – 3 each for Districts 1 and 2. Political aspirants in the different municipalities and the city in the province have also submitted their respective COCs except for the Municipality of Rizal.

 

Kalinga police spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip relayed that the filing of COCs in Kalinga has not experienced violence as of date. He added that the Kalinga Police Provincial Office deployed teams of police to the different municipal election offices in the province to ensure a peaceful filing of COCs.

 

Apart from securing the filing places, Manganip further said that the police stations conducted clearing operations on major roads going to the municipal election offices on October 01 for the safety of the political aspirants.

 

While the filing of COCs in Kalinga has been orderly in the past years, Manganip said that the authorities remain proactive as they wanted to keep it that way.
