‘Collaboration of PNP and elders… key factor in maintaining peace in Tinglayan’ – Mayor Gumilab

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Tinglayan has recorded a few number of crimes over the past years, and one major factor to this low crime rate is the collaboration of the local government through its peace advocates or Peace Core and the Philippine National Police, says Mayor Sacrament Gumilab.

Gumilab made the statement after the Tinglayan Municipal Peace and Order Council (POC) has again been cited by the Department of the Interior and Local Government as High Performing in the 2023 POC Performance Audit.

The municipality was evaluated for functionality and development indicators.

According to Mayor Gumilab, they have formed the Tinglayan Peace Core which is a group of elders who oversees and helps in the maintenance of peace and order in the ground. They are the implementing arm of the Tinglayan LGU.

“Dagiti group of elders iti Tinglayan isuda mangbubuo ditoy peace core, da isuda iti mangpe-prevent iti mapaspasamak nga madi idiay barangay pay lang. Daytoy peace core, isu iti implementing arm iti LGU Tinglayan nga tumulong iti PNP iti peace and order ta dagitoy nga lallakay ket itak-takder da iti Pagta’n iti Bodong nga isu iti ien-enforce da iti ili ket maki-cooperate met iti amin nga community members kada isuda,” the Gumilab explained.

Gumilab added that the strong and harmonious collaboration between the Tinglayan LGU through its peace core and the Tinglayan police are among key factors in the minimal crime incidents in the municipality. 

“Adda partnership iti Municipality of Tinglayan represented by Tinglayan Peace Core ken PNP. So, adda iti combination iti traditional way nga Bodong and na-integrate iti Bodong iti law iti Republic of the Philippines, complementary da nga duwa,” Gumilab further expressed.
