College actor from Ifugao joins Filipino and Hollywood actors in international film

Ifugao, Philippines – A 19-year-old college actor from Ifugao is now living his dream as their film hits the big screen.

Hilliard Paul Puguon, who is from Kiangan and a second-year student at Benguet State University, is among the cast of the romantic comedy ‘Take Me to Banaue’.

The film follows the story of Hank, an American engineer played by Brandon Melo, who falls in love with Grace Dulnuan, played by ‘Asia's Next Top Model’ winner and Miss Universe Philippines 2021 1st runner-up Maureen Wroblewitz.

The plot revolves around Hank discovering the truth about the woman he fell for, seeking his best friend’s help, and trying to make it to Banaue for the woman he loves.

The movie premiered in the Philippines on February 10 and is currently being privately screened in the United States of America.

Starring alongside Melo and Wroblewitz, Puguon played Paolo Dulnuan, the brother of Grace and son of Janet, portrayed by Lorian Fausto, a native of Lagawe but now based in California.

Twenty actors auditioned to play Paolo, but it was Puguon who was chosen to bring the character to life.

Passion for acting

Puguon has always been passionate about acting since elementary school, and he became a part of the ‘Aanak di Kiangan Artist’, a group of individuals performing in the community.

He is also a member of the Dramatic Arts Club of BSU.

In a Facebook post, the 19-year-old expressed that watching their film on the big screen shows his dream coming true.

“Stepping onto the red carpet was surreal, and watching our film unfold on the big screen felt like a dream come true. Thankful for this incredible journey,” he wrote.
